Just two months into their marriage, Prince William and Duchess Catherine were looking to the future on the third day of their Canadian tour ? 800 years in the future, to be exact.

The couple, energized from Friday's Canada Day festivities, planted an Eastern Hemlock tree in the shadow of the Pin Oak planted by William's parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, on June 21, 1983 (the prince's first birthday).

The native species planted by William and Kate will serve as an enduring symbol of the couple's love for 800 years.

William, 29, took a deep breath as he was shown the plaque bearing his late mother's name on one of the more than 120 commemorative trees gracing the grounds of Rideau Hall, the home of Canada's governor general.

The couple's tree is surrounded by red oaks planted by other members of the Royal Family, including the Queen's, which was planted in 1977.

The tree-planting tradition was first started by Japan's Prince Fushimi when he made the first official foreign royal visit to Ottawa in 1907, and the Royal Family has planted 16 ceremonial trees since 1939.

Celebrating Love

Later, the couple met newlyweds who married on the same day as them ? April 29 ? this year, as well as couples celebrating their 50th, 60th and 70th wedding anniversaries.

Kate, 29, who glowed in a grey Catherine Walker dress, smiled as Adrienne Charlebois, who was celebrating 50 years of marriage to her husband Denny, said, "I hope you will be as fortunate as we have been in our marriage."

The royal couple looked at each other and replied, "We hope so, too."

"Tremendous Lift"

With their love for each other front-and-center at the tree-planting ceremony, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also showed their compassion for others as they reached out to comfort a cancer patient who was recently told he had only 12 weeks to live.

In scenes that brought back memories of Princess Diana's ever-caring spirit, the royal newlyweds bent down to speak to wheelchair-bound Terry Joyce, 47, a former computer expert from Ottawa. Terry struggled to his feet and lent against a walking frame as William arrived, telling him to sit down and relax.

"Let's get you out of the sunlight, Terry," Kate said as she shook his hand.

After the couple left, Terry, who lives in the Bruyere Hospice, burst into tears. "This has given me a tremendous lift," he said. "It goes to show that we have a wonderful monarchy, and we really need people like this."

He added: "I was told a week ago I would be meeting them and I have been looking forward to it ever since. It has been one of the best days of my life."

Pete won't let Princess and Junior see him with another woman

While Peter Andre searches for his ideal woman, he's decided to keep his romances well away from home.

After his painful divorce from Katie Price, 33, Pete dated Elen Rivas, but there was no smooching in front of his kids.

Junior and Princess have never seen Pete in bed with a date.

'It won't happen until I find the woman I'm going to marry,' he tells us.

'I don't want to confuse my kids.

'The other day my cousin Miranda, who helps out with the kids, was making my bed and Princess came in, put her hands on her hips and told her to go out of Daddy's room because girls aren't allowed in there.

'It was very funny.

'My kids have never seen me be intimate with any woman other than their mother.'

Pete, 38, also never criticises his ex in front of their children.

'They'll never hear me saying anything negative about Kate,' he insists.

'If they ask anything, I just talk about something else.'

t's a battle of acronyms: The Valley's VICA vs. the state's CEQA.

It may end up being quite a tussle between the Valley Industry and Commerce Association and the California Environmental Quality Act, which sets strict guidelines for mitigating the environmental impacts of development and other projects.

But VICA President Stuart Waldman sensed a change in the political wind earlier this year when he and some members traveled to Sacramento for a meeting with Gov. Jerry Brown's staff.

"One of the first things they said was that the governor was serious about CEQA reform and they wanted ideas," Waldman said. "We didn't really think that we would actually have the opportunity for real CEQA reform because it is kind of like the Holy Grail."

The group came up with a list of about 20 ideas, then narrowed it to eight, which were released last week.

"Since its passage, the business community has been working for reasonable CEQA reform," VICA Chairman Daymond Rice said in a statement. "The eight ideas VICA has introduced will take significant steps to keep CEQA from hurting the state's economic recovery."

The top recommendation is to simplify the approval process for projects that are "deemed necessary for economic revival and sustained economic health."

VICA also

recommends granting expedited processing to projects designed to comply with existing environmental regulations and ensuring that once a project is approved that it is subject only to the laws in effect at that time.

Other suggestions address to how handle challenges made to a project's environmental impact statement.

"We're asking for what we feel are extremely reasonable changes," Waldman said.

The Governor's Office did not respond to request for comment.

Michael Endicott, an advocate for Sierra Club California, said that the group is OK with tweaking the environmental act but is leery of what the business community calls reforms.

"Most of the things we've seen so far that have floated up ... have not really been reforms but removal of environmental protections," Endicott said. "They are just looking to not have to comply with environmental laws."

The business and environmental communities have been waging annual skirmishes since the law was passed in 1970.

And one problem with CEQA is that it's dense - the 2011 version runs 399 pages.

Endicott said that heft reflects changes made to the law over the years.

But it also has spawned some pretty dense documents, too. Waldman says the environmental impact report for Universal Studios' expansion ran 49,000 pages.

"There are people who spent their entire careers working on that document," he said.

Maybe one CEQA reform should address brevity.

The television series ?Glee? will be returning for its third season in September, but have announced that Chord Overstreet?s contract will not be renewed.

This announcement has come on the heels of a strange post by Overstreet on Twitter, where the 22-year-old actor writes, ?Well it?s been a good year. Too bad its over. Time for summer and starting fresh.?

Overstreet has been kicked to the curb but stars Darren Criss and Harry Shum, Jr. (Blaine and Mike) will be made regulars of the series for this season.

Glee creator Ryan Murphy said cast members Cory Monteith, Lea Michele and Chris Colfer will ?graduate? this year on the show.

?We didn?t want to have a show where they were in high school for eight years,? Murphy told KIIS-FM?s Ryan Seacrest in an interview. ?We really wanted to be true to that experience.?

Murphy said he isn?t trying to get rid of any specific cast members, clarifying his statements to TVLine.

?The show to me is about the way you express yourself as you start to move out into the world as a fresh, young person.  Do we really want to have an eight-year [high school] senior? The only way somebody could stay on the show is if they flunk, and that is always a possibility. I think [Heather Morris' character] Brittany is pulling straight Fs.?
